Frequently Asked Questions...
Lobster Rope Doormat Material
What makes Lobster Rope Doormats so special?
It may seem bold to suggest our nautical rope doormats are the best in the world, but after 13 years of offering them nationwide, with less than 1% return rate...we think we've got a shot at the title.
The great thing about outdoor rope doormats is that you don't have to live on the coast, or be a boater, or even be interested in coastal decor to enjoy the beauty and functionality of a nautical rope doormat.
Handwoven in Maine and crafted to last for years, our nautical rope mats are colorful, heavy-weight, and extremely durable. Easy to clean and fast-drying, these are the best doormats for anyone who wants function and beauty combined.
Weighing 6 to 10 pounds depending on doormat size, they easily stay in place on non-skid surfaces.
Why does it cost less to buy a Lobster Rope Doormat?
When you purchase a strong, long-lasting doormat that not only does the job but keeps looking bright and cheery on your doorstep, you'll see it's worth the investment. It is more eco-friendly and economical to purchase a high quality doormat that lasts for years than to have to replace cheaper doormats more often.
Lobster Rope Doormat Durability
How long do your outdoor door mats last?
Our nautical rope doormats last for many years. They are designed to withstand Mother Nature's harshest weather and retain their beauty, function, and charm. We always say, "the best outdoor mats for the front door last for years, not a season."
How often should I change my doormat?
With our super long-lasting rope doormats, you will usually only need to change your outdoor doormat when you want a new color! They last for years.
Why does your rope doormat last so long?
Two reasons: first, Lobster Rope is engineered to last for years submerged in salt water. It's amazing how long it really lasts. The second reason is because our woven doormats catch dirt and pass it through. They do not get laden down with dirt and sand, which often ruins doormats and makes them take on odors. Lastly our doormats will never mildew or mold, so you do not track that into your home.
Is there a warranty on Wicked Good Doormats?
We guarantee against manufacturers' defects for 3 years from date of purchase. If you ever have any issues, just reach out. We'll be there for you.
Why it is important to choose a weatherproof outdoor door mat
Should I be concerned about mold and mildew on my outdoor door mat?
Outdoor doormats get wet all of the time which can lead to growth of molds and mildew that break down your doormat. Worse, this is tracked right into your home every time someone crosses the threshold.
With our fast-drying mold & mildew-resistant rope mats, you never have to worry about bringing these harmful molds into your home and affecting air quality.
Why is it important that an outdoor mat "catch and release" dirt rather than trap it?
Traditional doormats trap dirt within them, making them vehicles for germs. These doormats get bogged down and become hard to clean. This makes the doormat less effective and shortens its life.
Our "catch and release" weave passes dirt through so you just lift and sweep it away every now and then. Your doormat stays clean and fresh looking - no vacuuming required!
Can I use my rope doormat year round?
Absolutely! They add cheer to your door all year long. Not just for summer, these doormats add pops of colors that chase away winter grays, too. Because we have so many colors available - from vibrant blues, cool navy blues, and warm earth tones, you can now find a lobster rope "rug" in a color perfect for your home.
Do your rope doormats have added UV protection?
Yes! When the rope is manufactured we added up to 6xs the standard UV protection in lobster rope. Of course all rope will eventually fade over time, but ours lasts for years.
Do outdoor doormats take on odors?
Because they get wet all of the time, outdoor door mats can degrade easily and take on odors.
Lobster Rope Doormats, however, are super fast-drying and never take on odors. Say goodbye to soggy doormats! Plus, because our rope doormats are made from synthetic fibers they will not rot, as natural fibers do.
Are coir door mats good?
You might be disappointed in how coir doormats hold up to the wind and rain. Prone to mildew, odors, and just natural deterioration, natural rope mats are usually best for indoor use. It is also important that your outdoor rope mat is heavyweight, so it will not blow away.
Are rubber doormats good?
Heavy-duty, water-resistant rubber doormats are very functional, but they lack the color and charm of a rope doormat. Plus, extreme temperatures can cause rubber to crack, while rope doormats keep their cool in all weather.
Cleaning and care of your outdoor mat
How do I clean my outdoor doormat?
It's easy to clean a Lobster Rope Doormat - just hose it down right at your door. The fast-drying nautical rope is very easy to maintain.
Do your rope mats bleed or transfer color?
Never. Our doormats do not bleed color.
What surfaces are suitable for my Lobster Rope Doormat
Marine-grade lobster rope needs to be on non-skid surfaces that offer friction like cement, worn wood, etc. If you need a non-skid doormat pad we've got them right here:
